Prepared by senior sous chef, Mr Suhaimi and his team, the Hawkers Delight buffet features live cooking stations, Fried Char Kuey Teow or Fried Bee Tai Bak (老鼠粉/米台目), Penang Laksa, Ice-Kacang and Roasted Chicken and Roasted Duck. The highlight of the buffet is definitely these live action stations manned by hawker chefs who serve up pipping hot Penang local favorites.
Never miss out the Penang Laksa station as the Penang Assam Laksa is really good! The tangy fish broth served is a complex blend of spicy, sweet and sour flavor. We love the thick flavorful soup!
The Hawkers Delight buffet also present a delectable and scrumptious array of local and international appetizers, soups, desserts and cut fruits. The buffet served includes mouth-watering dishes like otak-otak, baked macaroni, squid, prawn rolls, prawn curry, rojak and many many more.
We manage to try the otak-otak (spicy fish cake) mixed with herbs and spices, prawn rolls with spicy dripping sauce. It's a tough choice with so many delicious buffet spread! The prawn curry was truly delicious, coated with rich spicy sauce.
For some hawker style dessert, guests can go for the Ice-Kacang station to order for a bowl of thirst-quenching concoction made of shaved ice, red beans, grass jelly, creamed corn, roasted peanuts and dried nutmeg slivers. It was one of the popular stall with long queue at the Sunday buffet. We can see a lot of Ice-Kacang fans rejoice with the self-service station here! The luxurious roasted duck was my favorite that day as I love duck meat. The duck was well roasted with meltingly tender duck meat and very crispy skin. And the accompanying sauce was good too! The fried Bee Tai Bak really stands out among the dishes as its taste is reminiscent of what one can get from the roadside hawker stall. It was so good that after we finished the first plate we immediately went back for 2nd round!
