Jazz lovers! Looking for a good chill out place in Penang to hang out with your friends over some food and drinks? My number one recommendation is definitely Hotel Equatorial Penang. Early this year, the hotel has newly launched its Nadaba by the poolside with truly remarkable dining atmosphere and relaxing ambience accompanied by live jazz music together with the perfect theme 'Sunset Jazz By The Poolside'. We are excited to notice the advertised overhead banner as we entered Hotel Equatorial Penang.
Setting foot on Hotel Equatorial Penang, we were greeted by cheerful staff with polite 'bow'. I am a firm believer that having congenial hotel staff in a 5-stars hotel is absolute essential to present the first impression towards hotel guests. The bright, wide-spacious lobby was beautifully decorated with lovely greenery and high ceilings to enable lots of breathing space. Awesome!
Nadaba is located at the Lower Ground floor of Hotel Equatorial Penang and next to the newly-refurbished Nada Lama restaurant. As we reached Nadaba, we were greeted by the amazing view of the poolside bar. We stood there and it was breathtaking! Thinking to ourselves that dining at this atmosphere will be the best thing ever! Greeted by the lovely staff of Nadaba, we were ushered to a good seating facing the jazz band. We took a tour walking around the poolside and the place is really inspiring! Being next to the poolside, Nadaba creates an atmosphere which brings you relaxation and the black & white comfy bean bag chairs make the whole ambience eye-catching and beautiful. Hotel guests may also enjoy lounging or snoozing by the sunbathing chairs as well.
We started off by ordering the 'Sunset Teaser for Two' from the Nadaba Menu. One of the highlights for the 'Sunset Teaser for Two' theme dinner is the 3-course menu is being served at a pocket friendly price. The price is tag @ RM48 nett for two! And the bonus of the 3 course menu is each course comes with unique parings of two white wine, followed by two red wine and then two beers. Our special night started with the first 'Sunset Teaser for Two - WHITE'. The 'WHITE' indicates that the first sunset meal is best served with white wine. We are very excited when the waitress brought the first sunset meal served using 3-tier serving tray (similar to high tea serving tray). The top plate consisted of octopus in pie tee cup. The middle plate is placed with brie cheese with crackers and roasted pepper with combinations of bocconcini bruschetta and anchovies. Brie cheese is a soft cow's milk cheese which originated from French region. And finally the bottom plate are filled with potato skin, peanuts, muruku and nacho chips.
Next! The sunset teaser #2 comes with BBQ beef meat balls on the first plate; camembert cheese with crackers, caesar salad crudites with poached shrimps on the middle plate and muruku and nacho chips on the bottom plate. And of course! What to pair with camembert cheese? Camembert is a well-known cheese that is recommended to be paired with the red wine. The sunset teaser #2 is served with two red wine and named as 'Sunset Teaser for Two - RED'. Love the red wine! A very good pairing indeed!
Finally! The third sunset teaser 'Sunset Teaser for Two - BEER' is served with chicken lollipop, beef salami cornets stuffed with sun-dried tomato cream cheese and the mouth-watering spinach mussel mornay. This is the last sunset teaser which comes with two beers to make sure your meal end on high a note. Well, the 3-sunset teaser course with the wine pairings and beers served is definitely good enough to justify the price tag.
At Nadaba, the staffs are attentive and always helpful. They offered a wide range of beverages such as mocktails, cocktails (Mojito, Margarita, Tequila Sunrise...) and beers (Hoegaarden, Heineken, Carlsber, Tiger, Guinness Stout...). We wanted to order everything from the menu but there were so many choices of drinks to choose from and we ended choosing the healthy drinks, the refreshing fruit juices.
I certainly will not mind dining at Nadaba by the poolside everyday if I am staying in Hotel Equatorial Penang. Why? Being able to enjoy the top-notch, heavenly delicacies beside the pool, or just laze by the pool to enjoy favorite drinks. It was just Wow! The Hotel Equatorial Penang is hosting the Sunset Jazz by the Poolside live performance every Thursday to Saturday (6pm-9am). Not to forget, customers who come and enjoy dining at Nadaba will be entitled 10% discount for CIMB credit card holders. And the best part is that the Nadaba opens till 12 midnight, so one can just head down here to have supper or chill out with your friends with some drinks. I will definitely recommend Hotel Equatorial Penang's Nadaba by the pooside as a superb spot to impress your special someone for a romantic dinner or drinks. Looking at the mouth watering sunset teaser sets, I was tempted to drop by Nadaba again this weekend.
Lastly, hotel guests or customers heading to Hotel Equatorial Penang can park their car at the basement car park.
